Welcome to the department for scientific research on school development and leadership

Our mission is to bridge the gap between scientific research and practical application in everyday school life. We specialise in identifying evidence-based practices for effective teaching and leadership and translating these findings directly into school practice. We are committed to continuous improvement and innovation in education and promote quality at multiple levels in the education system.

In order to strengthen evidence-based approaches in the area of school development, three professorships have been established in recent years

• Roland Bernhard: PH1 Professorship of School Development, Leadership & Leadership Culture
• Wolfgang Ellmauer: PH2 Professorship for Gifted Education
• Katharina Hanyka: PH3 Professorship of School Development with Special Consideration of Health Promotion.

Numerous research projects are carried out, the results of which are used for the professionalisation of schools in the context of advisory processes.
