Originally, the Campus Krems-Mitterau was the Teacher Training Academy Krems, founded in 1968 by the Diocese of St. Pölten. The Department for Pre-Service Primary Teacher Education, the Department for Pre-Service Elementary Teacher Education, the Department of Teacher Professional Development in Lower Austria, the Department of Teacher Professional Development for Religious Education of the Diocese of St. Pölten and one placement school can be found there.
