On completion of their studies at the University College of Teacher Education Vienna/Krems graduates receive the final award of Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) and qualified teacher status for the relevant school type. The B. Ed. authorises graduates to be appointed at an appropriate school and qualifies them to carry on to study for a Master's.
Degree courses are attended on campus and include self-study. The courses comprise social science, specialist subject knowledge, teaching skills and teaching practice. This is taught as a combination of paedagogical knowledge, job-specific didactical training and school-based experiences. All programmes are modularised. The skills which are to be acquired are listed as learning outcomes in the module descriptors.
